Warped Tour hits Vegas on Thrusday June 30th!!!

So, as you all know by now, the 2011 edition of the Vans Warped Tour is finally making it's way back to the streets of Las Vegas.  As you also know by now, it will take place June 30th at the Plaza Hotel parking lot on Fremont....yes, it's a strange location, but at least it's coming here!  Parking will be crazy....traffic will be nuts....the lines will stretch on forever....but Warped is back!  My solution to the previously mentioned gripes?  I booked a hotel room at the Las Vegas Club Hotel & Casino right across the street from the festival!!  The rooms run from $16-$27 per night...cheap and so close I could probably spit on the inflatable reader board that will list the set times;)  Anyways, if you are of age to book a hotel room, why not take the stress out of things and book a room?  I actually booked a 2 night stay, that way I can just walk on over for the show and then walk right back after the show....no traffic, no parking woes.

By the way, Frequency Presents has announced a Warped Tour after-party for the night of the 30th!  Details will come to you shortly.  Yes, another great reason to book a room ASAP!

So, with the big day only a month away, I will be featuring select bands each day on this blog for the next 30 days or so....sounds fun, huh?  Keep in mind, these are the bands I want to see...and I know, from last year's Warped in Pomona, CA...I won't even get to see half of them!

Here's my list.....what's yours?  Feel free to post your schedule in the comments area!

Circa Survive: Sunday. May 29th....This day shall rock

The show has been sold out for months and the wait has seemed like a lifetime, but on Sunday, May 29th, CIRCA SURVIVE will grace the stage at the House of Blues.  If you aren't familiar with these guys, do what you can to find out more, as they are one of the most exciting bands on the scene today.  I had already planned to go see MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE when they finally hit Vegas, as I bought tix the moment they went on sale.  Then, a few weeks later, it was announced that Circa Survive would be opening.....I hit the roof in excitement!  I had the pleasure of seeing these guys absolutely destroy the Bamboozle last year in Anaheim, so the words "blown away" were quite accurate.  I was also lucky enough to see them play as a part of the Hoodwinked pre-show that same weekend, where they played a set of Nirvana covers.  As a guy who actually saw Nirvana play live all those years ago...Circa is the ONLY band that even came close to doing Nirvana justice.
Anyways...for all of you attending the sold out MCR show this Sunday...GET THERE EARLY!!!  Do not miss the chance to witness Circa Survive in all their glory....you will discover your new favorite band.

Ok, so it looks like this concert WILL take place in Pahrump after all!  It's only and hour or so outside of Vegas, so there's really no excuse not to go.  Tickets are a very reasonable $18.95 and if you wanna upgrade to VIP, just add $21 to your order.  You'll get to meet Breathe Carolina, get a VIP t-shirt, tour laminate and a cool signed poster!  The line up is pretty great and any chance to see CHIODOS and I SEE STARS is reason enough to catch this tour.  Tix for the NV stop are available from the link above...see you there!

Mega Huge Concert News: Blink 182 & My Chemical Romance-Friday, October 7th at Red Rock Casino!!!

Before They Break: For the Fallen Dreams

Formed in 2003, this Lansing, Michigan Metalcore band will release 'Back Burner' on Tuesday, May 24th.  The album was produced by former A Day to Remember guitarist Tom Denney and I can definitely here his influence all over this album.  The band seems to be going into a whole new direction with this release...sanding down the rougher edge they've had in the past, while still staying true to their hardcore roots.

New Video Alert: Eyes Like Diamonds-Left for Dead

Eyes Like Diamonds will release 'Frequencies' tomorrow, May 24th...so there's no better time to check out the first video from the new disc.  The song is called 'Left for Dead' and it simply rocks!

Cool Band Alert: Red Abbey

Red Abbey is a band worth checking out...strikingly original with their take on the blues/ rock/ funk genre.  They hail from NYC, but have decided to make Vegas their second home, while still touring the U.S. non-stop.  The duo of Thien-nga and Trey Ordaz have always been the heart of Red Abbey and now being backed by a full band, the group continues it's climb to the top.  Red Abbey released their debut album 'Bulldozer' in early 2011 to great critical praise throughout the country.  A fantastic blend of garage funk and early NYC punk, Red Abbey has that "something" that will surely lead them to successful future.  Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for upcoming Vegas dates right here on Critical Acclaim!

I SEE STARS-The End Of The World Party

It’s always difficult when a band changes their sound, especially if you’re a longtime fan. Michigan’s I See Stars have done this with their 2nd album ‘The End of the World Party’, but can a band really change their sound after only one release? The answer is no. A band grows with each release and hopes that their fans will join them on this journey and I See Stars is posing this question to their fans. The band’s debut album ‘3D’ was an incredibly accomplished album, especially from a bunch of kids just out of high school; harnessing a sound which soon became the center of a genre. The “kitchen sink” approach to making an album can turn out only 2 ways: a total mess or a great, label defying creation…I See Stars have lived up to their lofty aspirations twice now. Only this time, instead of rooting the music in the crowded post-hardcore template, they’ve branched out into the world of pop. The use of auto tuned vocals is nothing new, but inserted into the galaxy of sound they’ve created, it works and does little to mask the talents of vocalist Devin Oliver. Every song on ‘The End of the World Party’ is a wild ride…beats, hardcore breakdowns and various electronic accompaniments; the title track is a great example of all of these things coming together and rocking out. I See Stars has a method to their madness and if it means creating a new sound for each evolution of the band….I’ll go along for that journey.
